Ford’s ‘race car for the road’ Mustang GTD has a new Spirit of America special edition model with styling and aero tweaks. The name is borrowed from the jet-powered land speed record-setting vehicles by racing legend Craig Breedlove, with Ford using Breedlove’s attitude and ingenuity to serve as the inspiration for this special edition. The car as a whole celebrates Ford’s motorsports heritage, especially with the Mustang, which has been involved in racing since its inception in 1964.
Changes for the Spirit of America Mustang GTD include a carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser cand big rear wing. The exterior now wears a pair of Race Red and Lightning Blue racing stripes that travel down the spine of the car from front to back contrasting with the Performance White paint colour of the body. This model is expected to be produced in limited numbers.
