Ford’s beastly new Bronco Raptor has finally been revealed, but where’s the V8? In a move that may disappoint a few fans, Ford has opted for a 400+ hp 3.0L twin turbo Ecoboost V6 engine over the companies Coyote V8. That choice it seems was necessitated by the narrow frame of the Bronco and the taller strut towers required to accommodate the added suspension travel of the Raptor. In the end, neither the V8 or larger 3.5L V6 could fit.
Away from the engine, the Bronco Raptor features an 8.6 inch wider track with fat fenders covering the tops of the tyres. The front grille has more cooling capacity which combines with the hood vents to help keep temps under control, and a thicker skid plate should help further protect the mechanicals from underneath.
