Porsche’s all-electric racing car concept the Mission R, previews new racer and possible Cayman successor. Porsche states the main goal of the Mission R concept is the creation of a new one-make racing series that would operate in a similar fashion to the 911 Carrera Cup. Perhaps the more interesting aspect to this is the all-electric replacement of the 718 Cayman and Boxster due in the near future, is this a glimpse into those future models.
Running on a 900 Volt electrical system with an 80 kWh battery and two motors, the Mission R outputs a constant 670 hp. A special qualifying mode will tap into the full potential the powertrain unleashing 1,072 hp, allowing a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.
