Lotus continue to add bigger numbers to their car names with the Exige Cup 430 gaining more power and in true Lotus style, losing some weight. The main focus for the fastest Exige yet, was aggressive track performance and point-to-point supremacy. Lotus claims a lap time of 1 minute 24.8 seconds around Hethel circuit, which is the fastest lap time for a production car at that circuit, surpassing the Lotus 3-Eleven by 1.2 seconds.
Power has been increased by 55 hp over the Exige Cup 380, and peak torque rises by 30 Nm which is available from 4,000rpm. Dry weight has been reduced by 12 kg, and total downforce has been increased to 220 kg due to a comprehensive range of new aero elements. This added downforce has also been distributed more evenly around the car than before, with the front end now utilising 45% of downforce developed to help push the nose of the car into the road. This should help ensure accurate high-speed turn in.
