The Renault 5 is back, it’s powered by electricity and stays true to the concept funky styling. That concept car was released in 2021 as an exciting look into what the future of Renault’s EV line-up could be. Now in 2024, that day has come to see if it can live up to the promise.
Since Renault will be leaving the hot version up to Alpine, the new 5 sticks to modest performance figures. The top trim comes equipped with a 52 kWh battery feeding a single electric motor which develops 147 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. The 0 to 62 mph acceleration time should come under the 8 second mark and the top speed is rated at a modest 93 mph.
