MG’s EXE181 is an aerodynamic concept with its sights set on challenging for land speed records. Back in the 1950s when MG was based in Britain, they developed the EX181, a sleek car with an incredible drag coefficient of just 0.12. With American racer Phil Hill at the wheel, the EX181 was able to hit a top speed of 410.23 kph, which is to this day the fastest ever factory-backed MG.
Some 67 years later, the now Chinese owned MG is back at trying to set some new land speed records with an all-electric EXE181. Whilst its drag coefficient doesn’t quite match the original at 0.181, it should have a lot more than 300 horsepower on tap. The exact power output is unknown at this point, but it does have 4 electric motors positioned at each wheel and will do a 0 to 62 mph time of just 1.91 seconds.
