For the first time Hyundai’s N brand has made it to an EV, promising an engaging performance version of the Ioniq 5. Ever since its inception, the N division has been used to great success with cars like the i20 N and i30 N impressing with their hot hatch capabilities. Now that they’re transitioning into the EV space, can the N car still deliver the same excitement despite the lack combustion engine?
Powered by two electric motors producing 641 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque and fed by a bigger 84 kWh battery, the Ioniq 5 N will launch from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and go on to 160 mph. Sitting 20mm lower and 50mm wider, the N has stiffened up nearly everything on the chassis and suspension in the mission to improve steering feel and agility.
