Chevrolet’s first electric pick-up has been revealed, and it has different styling and proportions to it’s gas and diesel powered siblings. The 2024 Silverado EV is taking a different route than it’s main competitor the Ford F-150 Lightning , as instead of modifying the existing Silverado’s platform with an electric powertrain, Chevrolet has decided to use the one from the GMC Hummer EV . What this approach has allowed is a more cab forward design that produces more interior cabin space than the regular Silverado.
Two variants will be offered at first, the ‘WT’ model will feature dual motors, all-wheel drive and 510 hp with 615 lb-ft of torque. The ‘RST’ model also has dual motors but produces more power and torque with 664 hp and 780 lb-ft. Chevrolet claim that the RST with the ‘Wide Open Watts’ driving mode selected will be capable of a 0-60 mph sprint time of under 4.5 seconds. Both models will use the same battery pack that should provide around 400 miles of range and up to 350 kW fast charging.
