New mild hybrid equipped BMW X6 M Competition inches closer to the inevitable electric takeover. That’s not to say this is anything less than the usual high powered V8 performance SUV, because it certainly has that covered. The same 4.4L twin turbocharged V8 engine remains pumping out 616 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque whilst propelling the X6 M from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds. The hybrid element consists of a small electric motor in the eight-speed automatic transmission. It can contribute a further 12 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque during acceleration and help out with the X5’s stop-start functions.
