Ferrari is bringing back the GTS badge for the convertible version of its 296 GTB supercar. Not used on a mid-engined Ferrari since the F355 in the mid-1990’s, the 296 GTS features the same 818 hp, 546 lb-ft hybrid powertrain as the berlinetta coupe its based on.
Changes have been made to accommodate the removable roof section which consists of a targa-like setup, that removes the central section of the roof and tucks it away under the new rear tonneau cover. All of that adds a little extra weight with the 296 GTS tipping the scales 70 kilograms more than the GTB. Performance wise, that weight is only reflected in the 0-124 mph time which is reduced by 0.3 seconds to 7.6 seconds. The 0-62 mph stays the same at 2.9 seconds.
