2022 Wiesmann Project Thunderball

Convertible · 2022

Little known German marque Wiesmann has returned from the dead, unveiling their new Project Thunderball roadster. Now under new ownership, Wiesmann have turned their attention to developing electric vehicles, forgoing the BMW engines used in their previous incarnation.

Featuring a bespoke aluminum space-frame chassis, Project Thunderball makes use of two electric motors mounted at the rear axle. Peak power is rated at 670 hp with torque topping out at 811 lb-ft. There is a single-speed transmission and limited-slip differential, with power being sent to the rear wheels only. Wiesmann are quoting a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds, and a 0-124 mph time of 8.9 seconds, so plenty of performance on tap. The range is expected to be around the 300 mile mark with high-speed charging at rates of up to 300 kW possible.
