McLaren 600LT Spider gets a folding hardtop roof and 50 kilograms more weight, but loses none of the fantastic handling, performance and excitement of the Coupe. The 600LT Spider is the fifth McLaren to carry the Longtail name, embodying the philosophy of increased power, reduced weight, optimised aerodynamics, track-focused dynamics and limited availability. Lining up in McLaren’s Sports Series, the 600LT Spider will be limited to a one year production run starting March 2019.
The drivetrain is a direct carry over from the 600LT Coupe, with 600 PS (442 kW) produced at 7,500 rpm and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque available between 5,500 and 6,500rpm. The flat-plane crank V8 with dry sump lubrication will rev all the way to 8,500 rpm with gear shifts operated via steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Power is sent through the the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the McLaren brake-steer system utilises the braking system in place of a locking rear differential.
