Famous BMW tuner Alpina has shown off their version of the new generation 3-Series, opting to start with the wagon version first. Capable of reaching a 186 mph top speed, the Alpina B3 Touring is one of the fastest wagons you can buy. This is all thanks to some reworking of the BMW 3.0L 6 cylinder engine. The twin turbos have been reworked, engine control software replaced and cooling system optimised for more performance. The result is a peak power output of 456 hp available at 3,000 rpm, and 700 Nm of torque.
The eight-speed automatic gearbox has been through some modifications as well with quicker shift times the result. This is connected to the xDrive all-wheel-drive system which is capable of fully variable torque distribution between the two axles. The limited-slip differential out back is electronically-controlled helping to improve traction when needed.
