For the 2017 model year Rolls-Royce have updated the Wraith, with the 2-door coupe enjoying a fresh facelift. The platform used remains the BMW sourced F01 used in the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Ghost and BMW 7-Series, which has been a contentious choice for the brand with many enthusiasts believing a true Roller needs it’s own proper platform. Despite this, the Wraith has been a worthwhile venture since it’s initial release in 2013 spawning the convertible Dawn version and becoming iconic for it’s pillar-less suicide doors.
The powertrain for the 2017 Wraith consist of a twin turbocharged V12 engine with 6.6L of capacity that is once again sourced from BMW and able to develop 624 hp and 800 Nm of torque. With all that torque at it’s disposal the V12 has no problems moving the rather heavy 2,440 kilogram kerb weight down the road, with 0-62 mph clocked in at a respectable 4.6 seconds. An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission has the task of shifting gears in a quiet and dignified manner all Rollers strive for, sending power to the rear wheels.
