Sébastien Ogier was born in Gap, in the French Alps, in 1983, and came into rallying through a national talent search in 2005. By 2010 he had won his first world championship rally for Citroën — where his teammate was the greatest driver the sport had known, Sébastien Loeb. The two did not get along, and Ogier left at the end of 2011.
He joined Volkswagen, and with his co-driver Julien Ingrassia won the title four times in a row in the Polo R WRC, from 2013 to 2016. When Volkswagen withdrew, he moved to the small private M-Sport Ford team and won twice more, in 2017 and 2018 — titles many consider his finest, because the team had so little behind it.
With Toyota he won in 2020 and 2021, and then stepped back from a full programme. In 2025, returning for a nearly full season with Vincent Landais as co-driver, he won his ninth title, equalling Loeb’s record, and became one of only two drivers to be world champion with three different manufacturers.
He has won close to seventy world championship rallies and holds the records for stage wins and for points.
Two cars in this catalogue belong to his story: the Volkswagen Polo R WRC with which he won his first four titles, and the Toyota GR Yaris, of which Toyota built a special edition in his name.
